Phillip Massey/WireImagePeter Gabriel is release a new song titled “I’m Amazing” today that can be purchased as a digital download and will be available on streaming services.

In a message on his official website, the singer reveals that the song, which he wrote a few years ago, “was, in part, inspired by Muhammad Ali‘s life and struggles.” Gabriel explains that “at the time of [Ali’s] death, when so many people are celebrating his life and thinking about all he achieved, it seemed the right time to release it.”

“I’m Amazing” is the first new original composition Peter has released since “Show Yourself,” which appeared in the 2013 concert film Back to Front — Live in London. You can listen to “I’m Amazing” now at Gabriel’s official YouTube channel.

This past Monday, the day of Ali’s memorial service, Gabriel posted a lengthy tribute to the late boxing champion, whom he called “one of the most influential figures of the last hundred years.”

In the homage, Peter pointed out that although he wasn’t a fan of the violence in boxing, he was “an enormous fan” of Ali. Gabriel added, “His mischievous courage and self-belief gave hope to millions of people who had something big and scary to confront, helping to arm every David against every Goliath and providing an irreverent challenge to racism all around the world.”

Also included in the post was a photo of Gabriel with Ali that Peter explained was taken at an event supporting the Reebok Human Rights Foundation.

Ali died on June 3 at the age of 74.
