Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ 1993 “Greatest Hits” Album Getting US Vinyl Release

PRNewsFoto/UMeTom Petty and the Heartbreakers‘ 1993 Greatest Hits compilation will be released on vinyl for the first time ever in North America July 29. The 18-track album, which peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200 chart, will be issued as a two-LP set on 180-gram vinyl.

Greatest Hits is Petty and the Heartbreakers’ best-selling album ever, having sold more 12 million copies in the U.S. alone. The record features classic tunes Tom released with his longtime band and as a solo artist, including “American Girl,” “Refugee,” “Don’t Do Me Like That,” “The Waiting,” “You Got Lucky,” “Don’t Come Around Here No More,” “I Won’t Back Down,” and “Free Fallin’.” It also includes two songs that got their initial release on the compilation, the top-20 hit “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” and a cover of the 1969 Thunderclap Newman gem “Something in the Air.”
