Atlantic RecordsPhil Collins‘ ongoing “Take a Look at Me Now” campaign, which finds the former Genesis star reissuing all of his solo albums with unreleased bonus tracks, is wrapping up June 10 with the release of deluxe editions of ….But Seriously and Going Back, the latter now retitled The Essential Going Back.
1989’s …But Seriously included the smash hit “Another Day in Paradise,” and topped the Billboard chart for four weeks. Going Back, which came out in 2010, was his first new album since 2002’s Testify, and featured the singer/drummer interpreting Motown classics from artists like Stevie Wonder, The Temptations and Smokey Robinson.
“I decided to call this version of Going Back The Essential Going Back,” Collins says in a statement. “In retrospect, I included too much music on the original version, and I believe that too much is not always a good thing. Hence this trimmed-down selection of my favorite Motown songs.”
As with all of the reissues, both albums include a second disc featuring demos, live recordings and B-sides.
