AEG PresentsHere’s some news that may just give a whole new meaning to “You Better You Bet”: The Who will be joining the ranks of the many famous rock acts playing Las Vegas residencies.
The British rock legends has announced plans for an engagement at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace that will begin with a series of six shows scheduled for July 29 and August 1, 4, 7, 9 and 11.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers will be performing a career-spanning set that will include songs from such classic albums as My Generation, Tommy, Live at Leeds, Who’s Next and Quadrophenia. Tickets will go on sale to the general public starting this Friday, March 17, at noon PT at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace box office. One dollar from each ticket purchased will be donated to the Teen Cancer America charity, co-founded by The Who’s Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend.
Other artists who are playing ongoing residencies at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace include Elton John, Rod Stewart and Celine Dion.
The Las Vegas performances are the first confirmed U.S. shows that The Who has scheduled this year. Prior to the Vegas residency, the band will play a run of U.K. concerts in late March and April. The first two of those shows, taking place March 30 and April 1, will be held at London’s Royal Albert Hall as part of this year’s installment of the annual Teen Cancer Trust Benefit Concert series. At the gigs, the group will be delivering an acoustic performance of its 1969 rock opera Tommy in its entirety.
