The Romantics Set to Release First Album in 13 Years, “Up from the Rubble”

1224

K-telPower-pop veterans The Romantics will soon be returning with Up from the Rubble, their first new studio album since 2003’s 61/49. A rep for the group tells ABC Radio that the album will be available as a digital download starting next week, and will feature two new songs, select cover tunes and rerecorded versions of some of the band’s older songs.

Up from the Rubble will include The Romantics’ renditions of a couple of classic ’60s hits, The Monkees‘ “Daydream Believer and The Animals‘ “We Gotta Get Out of This Place,” which initially were released as digital singles in May.

The Romantics have more than 20 concerts lined up this year in support of Up from the Rubble, including a previously announced series of gigs opening for Rick Springfield. The band also has some headlining shows and a couple of joint appearances with The Smithereens.

The Romantics current lineup features three of the group’s original members — singer/guitarist Wally Palmar, lead guitarist Mike Skill and bassist Richard Cole — as well as longtime drummer Brad Elvis.
