Scott Dudelson/Getty ImagesCars guitarist Elliot Easton is among the many musicians who will pay tribute to The Kinks‘ classic 1968 album The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society at a charity concert scheduled for February 23 at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, California.
Easton and various other artists will perform with the event’s house band, The Wild Honey Orchestra, a rotating collective of Los Angeles-area musicians.
The lineup also includes R.E.M. bassist Mike Mills’ side group The Baseball Project, Big Star drummer Jody Stephens‘ current band Those Pretty Wrongs, The Three O’Clock, Yo La Tengo‘s Ira Kaplan and more.
The concert will feature a full performance of Village Green Preservation Society, as well as a selection of other Kinks songs from the early part of the band’s career. Tickets are available now at AlexTheatre.org.
The show will raise funds for the Autism Think Tank, a non-profit organization that brings together top specialists via an online conference to work on solutions to issues faced by young people with autism.
During the last few years, The Wild Honey Orchestra has played a variety of tribute concerts to raise money for the charity, including concerts celebrating the music of The Beatles, Big Star, The Band and Buffalo Springfield.
