Moving On — The Who announces 2019 North American tour

754

LiveNationOn Monday morning, Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend confirmed The Who is hitting the road, in a tour they’ve dubbed Moving On!, ahead of the iconic band’s first new album in 13 years.

The band — along with symphonic accompaniment — will undertake a 29-date run of summer and fall shows, kicking off May 7 in Grand Rapids, MI, and wrapping up on October 23 in  Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

In a press release, Daltrey said, “Be aware Who fans! Just because it’s The Who with an orchestra, in no way will it compromise the way Pete and I deliver our music. This will be full throttle Who with horns and bells on.”

Townshend teased: “Roger christened this tour Moving On! I love it. It is what both of us want to do. Move on, with new music, classic Who music, all performed in new and exciting ways. Taking risks, nothing to lose. Looking forward to seeing you all.  Are you ready?”

Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, January 18 at LiveNation.com, though The Who’s fan club can take advantage of presales starting Wednesday, January 16 at 10am local time.

Every pair of tickets purchased online also snags fans a redeemable code for a CD copy of the band’s forthcoming album.
