Kevin Winter/Getty Images via ABCAerosmith‘s Steven Tyler finally has revealed the title and release date of his debut solo album, which he’s been recording over the last couple of years in Nashville. The singer tells Rolling Stone Country that We’re All Somebody from Somewhere will hit stores on July 15.
The album will feature 15 songs, including the previously released singles “Love Is Your Name” and “Red, White and You,” as well as a “darker, countrified” reworking of the 1989 Aerosmith hit “Janie’s Got a Gun.” Tyler co-produced the country-flavored collection with T Bone Burnett, longtime collaborator Marti Frederikson, Dann Huff and Jaren Johnston.
The 68-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer credits the various Nashville-based songwriters he worked with on the album, and the city itself, for making the project special.
“I believe y’all are gonna listen to this stuff and you’re gonna agree with me that it fell from a star,” he maintains. “I had nothing to do with this s***, it’s just Nashville. There’s something so magical about this town and me writing with all these people.”
Tyler tells Rolling Stone Country that he’s drawn to country music because it “still plays stuff with melody, [and] I have a sorcerer’s grasp of melody, I like to think.”
Steven also says he’s fallen in love with Nashville, where he recently bought a house.
“This town still has the passion for music,” he maintains. “It’s dripping from the honeycomb of this town. I’m in it, I’m in it neck deep. I’m gonna stay here.”
In support of We’re All Somebody from Somewhere, Tyler will launch a previously announced Storytellers-style solo trek called the …Out on a Limb tour on July 2 in Las Vegas and runs through a September 13 show in Toronto.
