ABC/Randy HolmesU2‘s long-awaited album, Songs of Experience, apparently will arrive just in time for the holidays, if The Irish Sun is to be believed. According to the newspaper, the album will be released on December 1 to coincide with World AIDS Day and in conjunction with the Project Red campaign Bono founded to raise money to support the fight against the disease.

The Irish Sun also reports Songs of Experience‘s first single will be “You’re the Best Thing About Me,” which will be released to radio stations on September 8.

Irish radio disc jockey Dave Fanning, who was treated to a preview of the upcoming album earlier this year at Bono’s house, described “You’re the Best Thing About Me” as “a great tune and much lighter than anything on [U2’s last album] Songs of Innocence. It’s the perfect single.”

U2 has been performing another Songs of Experience tune “The Little Things That Give You Away” during its ongoing tour celebrating The Joshua Tree‘s 30th anniversary. The band kicks off a second North American leg of the trek September 3 in Detroit.

Discussing the difference between Songs of Experience and 2014’s Songs of Innocence, Fanning said the new tunes he heard “were more personal from Bono, singing about later on after he left [his childhood home on Cedarwood Road in Dublin]. Reflecting back on his life.”
