ABC RadioBesides his passion for music, The Who‘s Roger Daltrey is a train aficionado, and with that in mind the rock legend has agreed to help open a new café on Tuesday at the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway’s new station in Dungeness, U.K. The Folkestone Herald reports that the singer will cut the ribbon at the facility, called The End of the Line, during a private ceremony that will be attended by various dignitaries and other guests.
The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway (RHDR) is a popular attraction in the Kent, U.K.-area, featuring a one-third-sized steam-and-diesel locomotive train that runs on 13-and-a-half miles of track from the town of Hythe to Dungeness.
A spokesman for the RHDR tells the newspaper that the ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. local time.
Earlier this year, Daltrey help launch a plan to create what is expected to be the world’s largest model train exhibition center. The Ashford International Model Railway Education Centre is scheduled to open in 2018 in Ashford, U.K. According to The Independent, it’ll include 30 huge model train layouts. In addition to Roger, ex-Squeeze keyboardist Jools Holland also contributed funds to the project.
