Coinciding with what would have been Jerry Garcia‘s 76th birthday, the late Grateful Dead frontman’s daughter Keelin and ex-wife Manasha have launched a new independent music label, Jerry Garcia Music Arts.
In celebration of the new endeavor, the label’s offering 2,500 free digital downloads of a remastered live solo performance of “Ripple” from a 1982 show at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, New Jersey.
The song will be available at a variety of digital retailers and streaming services. The track was mastered and co-produced by engineer Joe Gastwirt, who has worked on a variety of Garcia and Grateful Dead projects since the 1980s.
In conjunction with the live “Ripple” performance, Jerry Garcia Music Arts is also offering a limited-edition, museum-quality print of a watercolor by Garcia titled “Ripple” via the Terrapin Stationers Gallery starting on Friday, August 3. A portion of the money raised by sales of the artwork will benefit ocean preservation organizations.
