Courtesy of AXS TVBeach Boys frontman Mike Love will appear on the latest episode of the Dan Rather-hosted AXS TV series The Big Interview, which premieres today at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. On the program, Love opens up about a variety of topics, including his band’s unlikely connection to Charles Manson, something he also discusses in his recently published memoir, Good Vibrations.

In an exclusive extended preview of the show, Love explains that his cousin Dennis Wilson, The Beach Boys’ drummer, had befriended the cult leader and his disciples, some of whom wound up moving into his home for a short time. Mike recalls a creepy encounter he had with Manson at a dinner party at Wilson’s house at which he and band mate Bruce Johnston were the only people who weren’t naked.

Mike points out that at some point Manson began handing out LSD to the attendees, although the singer says he didn’t partake.

“[I]t was too much for me, so I left and went to the shower, and somebody followed me into a shower,” Love tells Rather. “And then Charlie opens the shower door and [says] ‘You can’t do that…You can’t leave the group,’ [and] he looked at with those Charlie Manson eyes.”

Love notes that this happened before Manson’s followers had committed the brutal murders of actress Sharon Tate, celebrity hair stylist Jay Sebring and others, but also admits that Wilson confided in him that he’d once witnessed Manson kill an African-American man with a rifle and stuff his body in a well.

In another chilling incident, Love reveals that his estranged wife Suzanne and Wilson, with whom she was having an affair, left two of Mike’s children in the care of Susan Atkins, one of the Manson family members involved in Tate’s murder.
