Mick Fleetwood, Robby Krieger among artists taking part in 2017 Malibu Guitar Festival next month

Al Pereira/Getty Images; Jill JarrettFleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood‘s side group The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band, plus ex-Wings guitarist Laurence Juber and rock-guitar virtuoso Steve Vai, are among the acts slated to perform at the third annual Malibu Guitar Festival, taking place May 18 to May 21 in Malibu California. 

At the event, Doors guitarist Robby Krieger will be presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the band’s self-titled debut album.

Fleetwood’s blues outfit, which also features ex-Fleetwood Mac guitarist Rick Vito, will headline the festival’s main eventSaturday, May 20, at Malibu Village. Juber and a variety of other musicians also will perform.

Krieger will be honored during the festival’s opening-night charity benefit, taking place May 18 at Casa Escobar at The Malibu Inn. That evening’s lineup of performers includes Juber, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers drummer Steve Ferrone, country star Hunter Hayes and more.

Vai will hit the Casa Escobar stage on Friday, May 19, as part of the fest’s “Hot Licks Night.” This event will showcase several female guitar players who were featured on the recently released Vai-curated compilation She Rocks.

Closing out the festival on Sunday, May 21, will be an event called the Rolling Stones Brunch, which will feature a presentation by rock music historian Andy Babiuk focusing on his 2014 book Rolling Stones Gear.

Babiuk also is a founding member of the veteran garage-rock band The Chesterfield Kings and the supergroup The Empty Hearts, which includes members of The Cars, Blondie and The Romantics.
