Credit: Doltyn SneddenLynyrd Skynyrd members Gary Rossington, Johnny Van Zant and Rickey Medlocke will take part in a special interview event in New York City on August 14 to promote the upcoming Showtime premiere of the band’s new documentary, If I Leave Here Tomorrow.
The Q&A session, which will feature Rossington, Van Zant and Medlocke chatting with one-time MTV personality Matt Pinfield, will be taped for an episode of the public-television series Speakeasy that will air this fall.
The event will be held at the Triad Theatre. Doors for the taping will open at 1 p.m. ET, with filming set to begin at 2 p.m. ET. Tickets for the event are on sale now and can be purchased by visiting TriadNYC.com.
If I Leave Here Tomorrow, which got its world premiere in March at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas, is narrated primarily by Rossington, the only surviving original Skynyrd member still in the band. The documentary charts the Southern rock group’s rise to stardom, and looks at the tragic 1977 plane crash that claimed the life of founding frontman Ronnie Van Zant and other members of the group and its aftermath.
The movie features interviews with ex-Skynyrd drummer Artimus Pyle and guitarist Ed King, late drummer Bob Burns, late backing vocalist JoJo Billingsley, producer Al Kooper and others.
The film debuts on Showtime on Saturday, August 18, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
