Do It Again: Steely Dan Announces New Themed-Concert Residency at Beacon Theatre

Credit: Danny ClinchContinuing its recent tradition of scheduling series of themed concert events, Steely Dan has announced a new residency at New York City’s Beacon Theatre that will take place in the fall. The 10-date engagement runs from October 12 through October 29, and will include full-album performances, a “Greatest Hits” show, a “By Popular Demand” concert and four gigs featuring Rickie Lee Jones as the band’s special guest.

The albums that Steely Dan will be performing in their entirety are The Royal Scam on October 12, Aja on October 18, Gaucho on October 22 and Countdown to Ecstasy on October 28. The band also will be playing select hits from its other records during these shows. The October 28 concert will mark the first time Steely Dan has ever played the full Countdown to Ecstasy live.

Tickets for the group’s Beacon Theatre residency go on sale to the general public on Friday, June 10, at 10 a.m. ET via Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com and by calling 1-800-745-30001-800-745-3000 FREE.  American Express card holders can buy pre-order tickets starting today, June 2, at 10 a.m. ET.

First up for Steely Dan is a previously announced U.S. summer leg of its 2016 trek, dubbed “The Dan Who Knew Too Much” tour. The outing, which features ex-Traffic frontman Steve Winwood as the band’s opening act, gets underway June 7 in Cincinnati and is mapped out through a July 17 show in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania.
