Paras Griffin/Getty ImagesThe world remains stunned over the brutal mass shooting that occurred at an outdoor music festival in Las Vegas Sunday night, when an apparent lone gunman opened fire from the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, killing at least 58 people and injuring more than 500.

Now, Carlos Santana, a Las Vegas resident who has an ongoing residency at the House of Blues located inside the resort, has joined the many celebrities who have issued statements regarding the tragedy.

“To everyone that lost loved ones, we stand with you. To those of you who are wounded and hurt, we stand by you,” the 70-year-old Rock & Roll Hall-of-Famer writes in a message posted on his Facebook page. “Our heart is in shock. Our minds are filled with questions. Why? Why allow weapons of mass destruction to be sold to civilians? The laws need to be changed to prevent this from ever happening again. Brutality is pure ignorance. Compassion is the highest quality of pristine divinity.”

Santana adds, “My heart goes out to all of those affected by this senseless tragedy. We all need to come together at this time and be ‘one.’ We send our collective prayers, light and love to the families and the wounded.”

The shooting erupted around 10:50 p.m. PT during country singer Jason Aldean‘s set at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival. The suspected gunman, identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, is believed to have killed himself before police confronted him.

President Trump says he plans to visit Las Vegas on Wednesday to meet with law enforcement officials, first responders and victims’ families.

Carlos and his band’s next run of shows at the House of Blues in Vegas is scheduled to begin Wednesday, November 1.
