Soundgarden is reissuing two of its albums on vinyl: 1989’s Louder than Love and 1996’s Down on the Upside, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Both reissues will be released August 26.
Louder than Love, Soundgarden’s sophomore album and major label debut, was the band’s first effort to chart on the Billboard 200.
Down on the Upside, meanwhile, debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200. The record, Soundgarden’s fifth, yielded two #1 singles in “Blow Up the Outside World” and “Burden in My Hand,” plus the Grammy-nominated track “Pretty Noose.” Down on the Upside was Soundgarden’s last album before they disbanded in 1997.
Soundgarden is currently working on a new album, its second since reuniting 2010. Meanwhile, frontman Chris Cornell is touring in support of his latest solo album, Higher Truth.
