The third installment of the Emerson, Lake & Palmer‘s ongoing reissue campaign that launched last year will arrive this Friday, May 26 on CD, vinyl and digital formats.  It includes the prog-rock legends’ 1977 albums Works Volume 1 and Works Volume 2, as well as 1978’s Love Beach.

Works Volume 1 was originally released as a two-LP set in March 1977. The album featured one full side dedicated to music created by each of the band’s members — singer/bassist/guitarist Greg Lake, keyboardist Keith Emerson and drummer Carl Palmer — plus one side boasting joint ELP compositions.

Works Volume 1 peaked at #12 on the Billboard 200, and included the group’s version of American composer Aaron Copeland‘s “Fanfare for the Common Man, which reached #2 on the U.K. singles chart.

Works Volume 2 was first released in November 1977 as a single-disc compilation of tracks from sessions for ELP’s previous albums, as well as Lake’s holiday classic “I Believe in Father Christmas.” The CD reissue features a bonus disc with an August 1977 ELP concert performance in Montreal.

Love Beach was originally issued in November 1978 and found ELP exploring a more modern direction. The CD reissue includes a bonus disc featuring alternate mixes and rehearsal outtakes.

All three albums have been certified gold for sales of more than 500,000 copies in the U.S. The reissues are dedicated to the memories of Emerson and Lake, who both died last year.
