ABC/Randy HolmesSlash and his band Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators have released the video for “Driving Rain,” the lead single off the group’s new album, Living the Dream.
The clip, which mixes live-action and animation, features puppet versions of Slash and company rocking out in the mountains while another puppet steals a car from her abusive puppet boyfriend. You can watch it now on YouTube.
“The idea behind doing an animated video for ‘Driving Rain’ is mostly due to the dark subject matter of the song influencing directors to come up with very dramatic, dark and sullen regular live action treatments that weren’t any fun at all (no offense to those guys),” Slash explains. “So, I wanted to create something that could be tongue-in-cheek and yet still be dark with live-action animation.”
He adds, “FYI, no puppets were harmed during the making of this video.”
Slash and the Conspirators are currently touring the U.S. in support of Living the Dream, which is out now.
