Credit: Kevin MazurThe U.S. leg of U2‘s 30th anniversary The Joshua Tree tour kicked off Sunday night in Seattle, and Bono and the boys were joined by a few special guests during the show.
For their rendition of “Mothers of the Disappeared,” The Joshua Tree‘s closing track, the Irish rockers performed alongside Pearl Jam‘s Eddie Vedder and Mumford & Sons, who opened the show. You can watch fan-recorded footage of the collaboration now on YouTube.
U2’s The Joshua Tree anniversary tour officially began last Friday in Vancouver. That show marked the first time U2 performed the classic 1987 album in its entirety, including the songs “Trip Through Your Wires” and “Exit,” which they haven’t played since the ’80s, and “Red Hill Mining Town,” which they’d never before played live.
Along with The Joshua Tree, U2 also debuted a new song at the Vancouver show, which will appear on their forthcoming new album Songs of Experience. The track is called “The Little Things That Give You Away.” Footage of that performance is also streaming on YouTube.
U2’s The Joshua Tree tour continues Wednesday, May 17 in Santa Clara, California. The band will headline Bonnaroo for the first time in June.
