The song, which was written and sung by David Gilmour, originally appeared on the 1972 album Obscured by Clouds.

The video features archival black-and-white footage of Pink Floyd’s members in the studio, interspersed with clips of young concertgoers and antiwar protesters. The video also includes a section featuring colorful animated drawings.

Obscured by Clouds features music that Pink Floyd composed for the soundtrack to the French film La Vallée, by director Barbet Schroeder. The band already had begun work on its landmark record The Dark Side of the Moon when it made Obscured by Clouds.

As previously reported, The Early Years: 1965–1972 is a 27-disc box set featuring a treasure trove of rare and previously unreleased early Pink Floyd material, including 130 tracks and more than 15 hours of video footage. The collection hits stores on November 11. Visit PinkFloyd.com to check out the full track list for the package. The remixed “Childhood’s End” also will appear on a two-CD comanpion release to the box set, titled CRE/ATION — The Early Years: 1967-1972.
