U2, Ray Davies, Meat Loaf and Blondie Among 2016 “Q” Awards Honorees

Credit: Paulo PellegrinThe 2016 Q Awards were held Wednesday in London, and among the honorees were U2, The KinksRay Davies, Meat Loaf and Blondie.

U2 won the Best Live Act honor, while the famed Irish band’s guitarist, The Edge, was presented with the Gibson Les Paul Award. Davies received the Q Classic Songwriter prize, Meat Loaf was named the Q Hero, and Blondie was honored with the Outstanding Contribution to Music award. Pop-ska veterans Madness were inducted into the Q Hall of Fame.

According to The Daily Mail, The Edge and U2 bassist Adam Clayton were on hand to pick up the band’s Best Live Act Award. “Thank you for this great honor,” the guitarist said while he and Clayton were at the podium, then quipped, “I’ve been doing shows with this man for 40 years, and one day we’ll get it right.”

Among the other notable artists in attendance at the Q Awards gala were Davies, Meat Loaf, Blondie’s Debbie Harry and Chris Stein, and Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood.
