R.E.M.‘s 1992 album Automatic for the People is getting the reissue treatment in honor of its 25th anniversary. The record will be released in various formats, including a deluxe three-CD/Blu-ray package, on November 10.
The deluxe Automatic reissue will feature the original album, plus a whole host of demos — including the previously released tracks “Mike’s Pop Song” and “Devil Rides Backwards” — and a live recording from R.E.M.’s 1992 show at the 40 Watt Club in their hometown of Athens, Georgia. The Blu-ray features music videos and the band’s 1992 electronic press kit.
You also can grab a two-CD edition of the reissue, which will include the live tracks, and a vinyl version.
Often considered one of the landmark albums of the ’90s, Automatic for the People reached #2 on the Billboard 200 chart and spawned the singles “Drive,” “Man on the Moon” and “Everybody Hurts.” It has since been certified four-times platinum.
