ABC/Randy HolmesOzzy Osbourne has battled substance abuse for much of his life, but the Black Sabbath frontman says he doesn’t drink or use drugs anymore. In an interview with the OC Register, the Prince of Darkness reflects on his past drug use.

“I now think, ‘How did I think going into a bar and getting [really] smashed and doing all that cocaine was [really] fun?'” Ozzy says.

“I have come to think that if right now you had a gun, a bag of cocaine and a gallon of booze and you said ‘Take your pick,’ I’d pick up the gun,” he adds. “It’s not worth it.”

Osbourne will close out 2018 with a New Year’s Eve edition of Ozzfest, held in Los Angeles, and will return to the road in 2019 to continue his No More Tours 2 trek. While initially billed as a farewell run, Ozzy says it’s more of a “slowing down” tour.

“I’ll still tour, but not as extensively like I have been for the last 50 years,” he explains. “I mean, I have grandchildren now and I’m 70 years old and I don’t want to be found dead in a hotel room somewhere.”

“I’m going to do it at a more leisurely pace and do some shows in Vegas,” Ozzy adds. “But I’ll never stop.”

And while he’ll still be on the road in 2019, Osbourne won’t be making an resolutions for the New Year.

“I don’t believe in making New Year’s resolutions, so I won’t be making one this year,” he says. “I just hope that God keeps me alive.”
