Get ready to cut loose, Kenny Loggins fans! A new AXS TV concert special featuring the veteran singer/songwriter performing solo and with a variety of artists with whom he’s collaborated over the years premieres Sunday, April 9, at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
Recorded last August at Chicago PBS affiliate WTTW’s Grainger Studio, Kenny Loggins and Friends features Kenny reuniting with his old Loggins and Messina partner Jim Messina, as well as teaming up with Michael McDonald, acclaimed producer David Foster, his country-rock side project Blue Sky Riders and eclectic soul/jazz bassist Thundercat.
Among the show’s highlights: Loggins and Messina performing classics such as “Danny’s Song,” “House on Pooh Corner” and “Your Mama Don’t Dance”; McDonald joining Loggins for renditions of Kenny’s smash “This Is It” and The Doobie Brothers‘ “What a Fool Believes”; and Loggins collaborating with Foster on a medley of tunes they co-wrote, including “Forever” and “Heart to Heart.”
In addition, Kenny showcases solo hits like “Footloose,” “Whenever I Call You Friend” and “Danger Zone.” Accompanying Loggins during the concert were a 12-piece band, a string quartet and a 16-member choir.
