Is Rush’s Geddy Lee planning to play with Yes at Rock Hall induction?

That’s what original Yes singer Jon Anderson told Billboard in an interview published Wednesday afternoon.  But not so fast.  Late Wednesday the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame issued a statement to Billboard saying that Lee and Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson “were only confirmed to do the induction speech for one of their favorite bands and not perform.”

Of course, Lee will be there at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on April 7 for the ceremony, so, maybe, confirmed or not, he could be prevailed upon to strap on a bass to play Squires’ famous part on “Roundabout” as Anderson said.

Last month, Anderson — who left Yes in 1980, but returned to work with the band off and on in the ’80s and ’90s — told ABC Radio about what the band, which had so many lineup changes over the years, was planning. “We’ll probably do a Yes with [former guitarist] Trevor [Rabin] doing ‘Owner [of a Lonely Heart],’ and then Yes with [longtime guitarist] Steve [Howe] doing ‘Roundabout.’ And then we’ll all get together and play a song together. Something like that,” he said.

Highlights from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will air as an HBO special on April 29.
