RhinoIn 1983, after a decade of rocking New York-area clubs, Twisted Sister signed with Atlantic Records, and released its major-label debut, You Can’t Stop Rock ‘n’ Roll. Now, the band is set to release a remastered and expanded two-CD version of the album. The package, due September 14, includes three extra studio tracks, plus the bonus disc Live at The Marquee 1983.
Featuring such memorable tunes as the title track, “I Am (I’m Me)” and “The Kids Are Back,” You Can’t Stop Rock ‘n’ Roll paved the way for Twisted Sister’s 1984 breakthrough album, Stay Hungry.
The reissue’s bonus tracks are “One Man Woman,” “Four Barrel Heart of Love” and “Feel the Power,” the latter of which previously appeared on the You Can’t Stop Rock ‘n’ Roll EP.
Live at The Marquee 1983 was recorded at a pair of shows that took place in March of that year at London’s famous Marquee Club. Among the tunes played were renditions of nearly all the songs from Twisted Sister’s indie debut, 1982’s Under the Blade, as well as covers of The Shangri-Las‘ “Leader of the Pack” and Shirley and Lee‘s R&B classic “Let the Good Times Roll.” The shows marked the band’s first-ever public performance of “You Can’t Stop Rock ‘n’ Roll.”
The You Can’t Stop Rock ‘n’ Roll reissue also will be available digitally and via streaming services.
Meanwhile, a two-LP, colored-vinyl version of Live at The Marquee 1983 will be released on August 10 as a part of the Record Store Crawl event. The limited-edition double-disc set initially will be sold exclusively in independent record shops before getting a national release on September 14.
