ISO/Columbia RecordsBillboard has published its mid-year charts for 2016, and the late David Bowie has scored the top-selling vinyl album for the first half of the year with his final studio effort, Blackstar. The album, which was released two days before Bowie’s January 10 death, sold 57,000 vinyl copies — 21,000 more than the #2 bestselling LP, Adele‘s 25.
Also among the 10 bestselling vinyl records for 2016 so far are Bob Marley and the Wailers‘ 1984 Legend compilation and The Beatles‘ classic 1969 album Abbey Road. Legend landed in fifth place with 23,000 copies sold, while Abbey Road takes the #7 spot with 21,000 in sales.
Meanwhile, Blackstar was among the top 10 albums in overall pure sales, finishing at #8 with 428,000 copies sold.
