George Pimentel/Getty ImagesOver the weekend, Bryan Adams helped raise thousands of dollars during his concert in Canterbury, U.K., for an ailing British teenage fan’s expensive cancer treatments. According to a post on the Canadian singer’s Facebook page, Adams sent around a collection bucket during the show, and concertgoers and his band members wound up contributing 10,000 pounds, or almost $13,000, to aid 16-year-old Kelly Turner, who is battling a rare type of cancer.

As seen in a video shot by Turner that was posted on KentOnline.co.uk, Adams holds up the bucket and tells the crowd that although 100,000 pounds been has raised already for an operation Kelly hopes to have in New York, she needs a lot more to pay for the treatment. He then asks the audience to give as much as they can before proceeding to dedicate his chart-topping 1991 hit “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You” to the teenager, her family and all the fans at the show “for [their] generosity.”

Turner also got the chance to meet with Adams prior to the gig. According to KentOnline.co.uk, Kelly’s treatment — which would take place at the Sloan Kettering cancer center in New York, will cost 1 million pounds, or about $1.3 million.

In his Facebook post, Adams writes, “I’m so proud of the audience…Special thanks to the security at the gig who volunteered to go into the crowd and follow the collection.” He explains that anyone who wants to donate more money for Turner can do so by visitng the JustGiving.com crowdfunding site.
