A message posted on the Nobel Foundation’s official website reports that Dylan called the Swedish Academy, which presents the Nobel Prizes, this week and told them “of course” he accepts the award.

“The news about the Nobel Prize left me speechless,” Dylan told Sara Danius, the Swedish Academy’s permanent secretary. “I appreciate the honor so much.”

The Nobel Foundation also reports that it hasn’t been decided yet if the folk-rock great will attend the presentation ceremony or other related events scheduled for early December in Stockholm.

Nobel officials announced on October 13 that Dylan had been chosen to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.” He becomes the first musician ever to be acknowledged with the honor.
