Benett/Dave Benett/Getty ImagesRolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood and wife Sally have shared the first pictures of their new twin daughters, Gracie Jane and Alice Rose, in an exclusive new photo shoot published in the latest issue of Hello! Sally, 38, gave birth to the babies at St. Thomas hospital in London on May 30, just two days before her husband turned 69.
Ronnie, who has four grown children from previous marriages, says he’s embracing his fatherly duties with his two youngsters.
“I’m the burper, walker, nappy changer and I’m still trying to work out when I can get to sleep in between all that,” he tells the U.K. magazine.
He also reveals that he already is sharing his artistic talents with the newborns.
“I have played the guitar to them and when I get round to it I will do some drawings,” Wood admits, adding, “At the moment I’m just soaking up every moment we have. I have Sally, I have my beautiful family and I have two little gorgeous dolly girls. All I can think is that someone up there really likes me.”
Sally, meanwhile, reports that her rock star spouse cut both babies’ umbilical cords when they were born, then she and Ronnie held their new daughters and cried.
“You are just so happy and emotional, the tears are just there,” she explains to Hello! “Ronnie is so completely committed to being a dad, helping me, looking after us all.”
Wood also reports that his bandmate Mick Jagger was among his first friends to meet the twins.
“[He] popped in on the third day,” Ronnie tells Hello! “He couldn’t wait to see them, I put one in each arm and took a photo.”
