Rhino EntertainmentAre you ready to check back into the Hotel California? The Eagles are preparing 40th anniversary reissues of their career-defining album that will be released November 24.
A three-disc deluxe edition of the reissue includes a CD boasting a remastered version of the original album, a bonus CD featuring 10 unreleased performances from an October 1976 concert at The Los Angeles Forum, and a Blu-ray Audio disc containing three high-resolution mixes of Hotel California.
The deluxe collection comes packaged a hardbound book featuring rare photos from the time of the album’s release, plus a replica tour book and a poster.
The live disc includes renditions of two Hotel California songs — the title track and “New Kid in Town” — plus such other Eagles classics as “Take It Easy,” “Take It to the Limit,” “Witchy Woman,” “One of These Nights” and “Already Gone.”
Single-CD and two-CD editions of the Hotel California reissue also will available, as will digital and streaming versions.
Released in December 1976, Hotel California has sold more than 16 million copies in the U.S. to date, and an estimated 32 million copies worldwide. The album spent eight non-consecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200 in 1977 and yielded two #1 hits — the aforementioned title track and “New Kid in Town” — as well as the #11 single, “Life in the Fast Lane.” Hotel California also won two Grammy Awards, for Record of the Year and Best Arrangement for Voices.
As previously reported, The Eagles’ current lineup has five upcoming U.S. shows scheduled, running from an October 17 concert in Greensboro, North Carolina, through an October 27 gig in Detroit.
