Eagle Rock EntertainmentThe Who‘s special April 2017 benefit performance of its classic 1969 rock opera Tommy at London’s famous Royal Albert Hall is the focus of new audio and home video releases that hit stores today.
Tommy — Live at the Royal Albert Hall is available on DVD, Blu-ray and digital video, and as a two-CD set, a three-LP package and a digital album.
The concert, which raised money for the U.K.’s Teenage Cancer Trust charity, marked the first time that The Who played Tommy in its entirety.
The performance was enhanced by a multimedia presentation that included specially created animated segments to accompany various tunes. Following the Tommy portion of the show, The Who played a set featuring various other classic tunes, including “Who Are You,” “Love, Reign O’er Me,” “Baba O’Riley” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again.”
The DVD and Blu-ray contain some bonus features, including a behind-the-scenes featurette, and a look at the animations for “The Acid Queen” and “Pinball Wizard,” synched with the live audio of those songs.

The Who just wrapped up its 2017 tour itinerary with a South American leg that wound down October 1 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Frontman Roger Daltrey will play a series of fall North American gigs with his solo backing group running from an October 30 show in Clearwater, Florida, through a November 6 and 8 stand in Niagara Falls, Canada.
