Temple of the Dog Shares Alternate Mix of “Say Hello 2 Heaven”

ABC/Randy HolmesTemple of the Dog has premiered an alternate mix of its single “Say Hello 2 Heaven,” which will appear on the forthcoming 25th anniversary reissue of the grunge supergroup’s self-titled debut album. The new mix essentially cuts out the drums to focus more on the guitar and Chris Cornell‘s voice, creating a softer, but emotional version of the song.

You can listen to the alternate mix of “Say Hello 2 Heaven” now at TempleoftheDog.com.

Cornell wrote “Say Hello 2 Heaven” as a tribute to Mother Love Bone frontman Andrew Wood, who died in 1990 after overdosing on heroin. Temple of the Dog also was formed in honor of Wood.

The Temple of the Dog reissue will be released on CD, digitally and as a special “super deluxe” edition — which features a DVD with live performances and music videos, plus a Blu-ray audio disc — on September 30. It also will be issued on vinyl on November 11.

Temple of the Dog will embark on its first-ever tour this fall. All five of the band’s original members — Cornell, Matt Cameron, Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard and Mike McCready — will unite for the trek, which begins November 4 in Philadelphia.
