Soundgarden releases remixed version of “Flower” from “Ultramega OK” reissue

1011

Sub PopSoundgarden has shared a remixed version of their song “Flower,” which will appear on the forthcoming reissue of the band’s 1988 debut album, Ultramega OK. You can listen to the new take on “Flower” now via YouTube.

The Ultramega OK reissue will be released March 10. The 19-track collection features a remixed version of the original album, plus “early versions” of six songs.

For Soundgarden, remixing Ultramega OK has been a goal decades in the making. When the album was originally released, the band wasn’t happy with the final mix, and planned to remix it for subsequent pressings. However, their career took off shortly after, and the remix project fell through the cracks. They were able to pick it up again in 2016 after reacquiring the original Ultramega OK multi-track tapes.

Soundgarden is currently working on their seventh studio album, the follow-up to their 2012 comeback effort King Animal. They’ll be headlining a number of music festivals this spring, including Carolina Rebellion, Rock on the Range and Rocklahoma.
