Eagle Rock EntertainmentThis past April, The Who gave a special full performance of its classic 1969 rock opera Tommy at London’s famous Royal Albert Hall to raise money for the U.K.’s Teenage Cancer Trust charity. Now, new audio and video packages documenting the concert are scheduled to be released on October 13.
Tommy — Live at the Royal Albert Hall will be available on DVD and Blu-ray, and as a two-CD set, three-LP package, digital album and digital video. The concert marked the first time ever that The Who played the concept album in its entirety.
The performance was highlighted by a multimedia presentation that included specially created animated segments to accompany various tunes. Following the performance of Tommy, the band ended the show with a set of other Who classics, including “Who Are You,” “Love, Reign O’er Me,” “Baba O’Riley” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again.”
The DVD and Blu-ray contain a number of bonus features, including a behind-the-scenes featurette, and a look at the animations for “The Acid Queen” and “Pinball Wizard,” synched with the live audio of those songs.

The Who just wrapped up a North American summer tour on with a show Wednesday in Stateline, Nevada. The band also has a series of five South American concerts beginning with a September 21 date in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
