Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody” scores two SAG Awards nominations

20th Century FoxAfter scoring two nominations for 2019 Golden Globe Awards, the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody has now garnered a pair of nods for the 25th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The film’s cast will vie for the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture honor, while Rami Malek, who portrays Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, will compete for the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role prize.

The remake of A Star Is Born, featuring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, is the film that received the most SAG Award nominations, with four. The nominations were announced Wednesday morning by Laverne Cox and Awkwafina at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, California.

The 25th annual SAG Awards will air January 27, 2019, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on TNT and TBS.

As previously reported, Bohemian Rhapsody is in the running for the Best Motion Picture — Drama award at the Golden Globes, while Malek is nominated for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture — Drama honor.

The 76th annual Golden Globe Awards will air live on NBC on Sunday, January 6, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
