Courtesy of SHOWTIMEThe new rock documentary Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars gets its TV premiere February 10 on Showtime, but fans will be able to watch the film on the big screen first this month. The movie will be shown on November 16 at the DOC NYC film festival in New York City, and at select screenings on November 24 in New York and Los Angeles.
The DOC NYC screening, which will close out the festival, takes place at the SVA Theatre at 6:45 p.m. ET. Specific theaters and times are expected to be announced soon for the November 24 events.
The movie, which was directed by Oscar-winning producer Lili Fini Zanuck, offers an intimate profile of the British guitar legend’s life, including his traumatic childhood, his rise to rock stardom, his struggles with drug addiction and the tragic 1991 death of his young son Connor.
The documentary features extensive interviews with Eric, as well as with his family members, friends, musical heroes, collaborators and admirers. The well-known musicians who appear in the film, either in new or archival footage, include the late legends B.B. King, Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison and Duane Allman; Clapton’s ex-Yardbirds band mates Chris Dreja and Jim McCarty; John Mayall; Roger Waters; and Steve Winwood. Life in 12 Bars got its world premiere on September 8 at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival.
