The series will kick off with the premiere screening of a 10th anniversary edition of Martin Scorsese‘s 2005 documentary No Direction Home at the University of Tulsa’s Lorton Performance Center.

In conjunction with the No Direction Home screening, the first public exhibition of some memorabilia from the Bob Dylan Archive will go on display. The exhibit, titled “The Ghost of Electricity,” will include handwritten lyrics to such famous Dylan songs as “Maggie’s Farm,” “Subterranean Homesick Blues” and “Visions of Johanna”; the leather jacket he wore at his infamous 1965 Newport Folk Festival Performance in July 1965, when he “went electric”; and much more. After debuting at the Lorton Performance Center, the exhibition will be displayed at the Henry Zarrow Center for Art and Education from September 23 through October 10.

The Dylan on Film series will continue on September 22 with an outdoor screening of the 1967 Murray Lerner documentary Festival!, which features footage of Dylan and other artists performing at the Newport Folk Festival from 1963 to 1966. On September 23, D.A. Pennebaker‘s famous documentary Don’t Look Back, about Bob’s 1965 U.K. tour, will be shown at the Circle Cinema.

The series will come to a close on the evening of September 24 with the screening of three movies art the Circle Cinema — 2007’s 65 Revisited, which showcases unreleased footage from Dylan’s ’65 U.K. trek; Eat the Document, a rarely seen hallucinatory 1972 flick directed by Bob using footage Pennebaker shot during Dylan’s European tour in 1966 with members of what would become The Band; and Bob Dylan: From the Archive, a selection of performances by Dylan spanning from 1963 to 2003.
