Wicked Cool Records/UMeLast year, “Little Steven” Van Zandt mounted a tour with his backing group The Disciples of Soul in support of his latest solo album, Soulfire. Now the longtime E Street Band guitarist has released a three-CD live set featuring highlights from the trek.
Soulfire Live! is an expanded version of a digital album released in April. It adds a bonus CD of performances, including onstage collaborations with Bruce Springsteen, ex-Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora and J. Geils Band singer Peter Wolf.
The album was recorded at various shows Little Steven and the band played in the U.S. and Europe. Springsteen is featured on renditions of “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” and the Van Zandt-penned Southside Johnny hit “I Don’t Want to Go Home.”
Wolf appears on a version of his band’s smash “Freeze Frame,” while Sambora lends his talents to a performance of Marvin Gaye‘s “Can I Get a Witness.”
A seven-LP vinyl box set and a two-Blu-ray edition of Soulfire Live! will be released in the coming months and can be pre-ordered now exclusively at Little Steven’s official webstore. Both releases include the group’s full surprise show at Liverpool, U.K.’s famous Cavern Club, which took place in November 2017.
That intimate set included performances of The Beatles‘ “Magical Mystery Tour,” “Good Morning, Good Morning,” “Got To Get You into My Life” and “All You Need Is Love,” as well as some classic tunes covered by the Fab Four.
