Iggy Pop premieres video for ‘Free’ track “We Are the People”

Iggy Pop has premiered the video for “We Are the People,” a song off his new album, Free.

The clip stars the Godfather of Punk in one continuous, unbroken shot of his face as performs the track, a spoken-word interpretation of a 1970 poem written by Lou Reed. You can watch it now streaming on YouTube.

Free, Pop’s 18th solo effort, was released last September. This Saturday, March 7, Iggy will sign limited-edition “test pressings” of Free at the Perrotin art gallery in New York City. Visit Perrotin.com for more info.

In related news, a special box set celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1970 Stooges album Fun House will be released on July 17. The collection includes a newly remastered version of Fun House, plus The Complete Fun House Sessions, which consists of every take from the original album’s recording sessions.
