Hollywood RecordsNot only was the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie a huge success, it yielded a hugely successful and chart-topping soundtrack that was packed with pop and rock hits from the 1970s. With the hotly anticipated sequel to the 2014 intergalactic super-hero flick set to hit theaters on May 5, director James Gunn has exclusively unveiled the track list of the new film’s soundtrack — due out this Friday — at RollingStone.com.

Like its predecessor, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Awesome Mix Vol. 2 features pop and rock hits from the 1970s, while the new album also digs back to the ’60s for a couple of additional gems. Among the classic-rock tunes appearing on the soundtrack are Electric Light Orchestra‘s “Mr. Blue Sky,” Fleetwood Mac‘s “The Chain,” George Harrison‘s “My Sweet Lord,” Cheap Trick‘s “Surrender” and Sweet‘s “Fox on the Run.” The album also features ’70s pop hits by Glen Campbell, Cat Stevens and Looking Glass, as well as Parliament‘s funk classic, “Flashlight.”

The 1960s are represented by Sam Cooke‘s “Bring It On Home to Me” and Jay and the Americans‘ “Come a Little Bit Closer.”

Interestingly, Gunn tells Rolling Stone that all of Fleetwood Mac’s members watched the scene featuring “The Chain” before they gave their approval to use the tune.
