Michael Putland/Getty ImagesToday, September 21, is the United Nations’ annual International Day of Peace, and one artist plans to celebrate it by erecting an enormous painting of John Lennon in New York City’s Central Park.

Austin, Texas-based painter Eric Waugh‘s 2,500-square-foot “Imagine Again” will be unveiled at noon ET at Central Park’s Naumburg Bandshell.

“It is my hope that people surround the painting and pay tribute to John and his dream for a world without strife, war and conflict,” Waugh tells DNAinfo. “Recent events, at home and abroad, show that John’s vision remains as important as ever.”

Waugh also plans to make a $5,000 donation to the non-profit organization Peace One Day, reports DNAinfo, a group aiming to make September 21 a global day of cease-fire and non-violence.

If you’re in New York City today, you’ll have to hurry over to the park to see the painting.  It will only be up until 8 p.m.
