Foo Fighters announce new album, “Concrete and Gold”; launching their own festival

1039

Roswell Records/RCA RecordsSurprise! Foo Fighters have announced a new album. The ninth studio effort from Dave Grohl and company is called Concrete and Gold, and will be released September 15.

Concrete and Gold was produced by Greg Kurstin, who’s worked with Adele, Beck and Sia.

“I wanted it to be the biggest sounding Foo Fighters record ever,” says Grohl in a statement. “To make a gigantic rock record but with Greg Kurstin’s sense of melody and arrangement…Motorhead‘s version of Sgt. Pepper…or something like that.”

To add to already exciting news, Foo Fighters will be launching their own festival, the Cal Jam 17, this fall. Taking place October 7 in San Bernardino, California, Cal Jam 17 features a headlining set from the Foos, plus performances by Queens of the Stone Age, Cage the Elephant, Royal Blood, Liam Gallagher, Wolf Alice and The Struts, among others.

And that’s not all! Foo Fighters have also announced their own headlining tour in support of Concrete and Gold. The tour kicks off with the opening show at The Anthem, a new venue opening in Washington, D.C., on October 12, and continues October 14 in Richmond, Virginia. It’ll wrap up December 12 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
