The project was inspired by the 1963 Walter Tevis novel The Man Who Fell to Earth, and focuses on the character Thomas Newton, whom Bowie famously portrayed in the 1976 film version of the book.

Dexter and Six Feet Under actor Michael C. Hall, who starred in the New York City production, will reprise his role for the London version of the play. The show features a variety of classic Bowie tunes as well as the song “Lazarus,” which appeared on Bowie’s 2016 studio album, Blackstar.

Ivo van Hove, who directed the play’s off-Broadway run, also will direct the London production. Performances of Lazarus are scheduled through January 22, 2017.

As Rolling Stone points out, Bowie’s last public appearance was at Lazarus‘ November 18, 2015, off-Broadway opening. The sold-out production ran until January 20 of this year, 10 days after David died.
