RhinoChicago has been showcasing a full performance of its classic self-titled 1970 double album — also known as Chicago II — on its 2018 tour, and the band also recently played the entire record at a taping for a new episode of the PBS series Soundstage. Now that performance, recorded at the Windy City’s famed WTTW-TV studios, will be released June 29 as Chicago II: Live on Soundstage.

The two-disc set includes a video of the program and a 5.1 surround-sound audio mix. The audio of the program also will be available as a digital download and via streaming services. In addition, a deluxe package called Chicago II: Collector’s Edition will be released in August — that will include the Soundstage performance on CD and DVD, plus a remixed version of the original Chicago II album by acclaimed producer Steven Wilson on both CD and as a double-LP vinyl set.

Chicago II features several of the band’s most enduring songs, including “25 or 6 to 4,” “Make Me Smile” and “Colour My World.” The latter two tunes actually are part of a six-section suite called “Ballet for a Girl in Buchannon.”
