Brendon Urie has issued a statement to the Donald Trump campaign demanding that it stop using Panic! at the Disco songs after the band’s hit, “High Hopes,” played during the president’s rally Tuesday in Phoenix.
Late Tuesday night, Urie tweeted, “Dear Trump Campaign, F*** you. You’re not invited. Stop playing my song. No thanks, Brendon Urie, Panic! at the Disco & company.”
He added, “Dear Everyone Else, Donald Trump represents nothing we stand for. The highest hope we have is voting this monster out in November.” Urie also linked to the voter registration website HeadCount.org.
“High Hopes,” which appears on the 2018 Panic! album Pray for the Wicked, was previously used by former Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg during his campaign.
Urie’s statement follows Tom Petty’s family issuing the Trump campaign a cease and desist demand after the late rocker’s song “I Won’t Back Down” played during a Trump rally in Tulsa last weekend.
