Credit: Scarlet PageBilly Corgan has been named president of Impact Ventures, the parent company of the pro-wrestling promoters TNA Wrestling and its show Impact Wrestling. The Smashing Pumpkins frontman will “be responsible for leading day-to-day operations for Impact and its affiliated brands.”
“I believe in this company, its passionate fans, the talented roster and the dedicated staff and crew,” says Corgan in a statement. “I am committed to this great opportunity and will use all of my resources and connections to drive the success of this company. This year we have made significant strides in establishing a strong foundation for our future and will be aggressive in continuing to evolve and grow the Impact brands.”
Corgan, who is well known as a wrestling aficionado, first joined Impact last year. He served as a senior producer for Impact Wrestling and helped develop characters and story lines for the show.
Meanwhile, Corgan recently announced that he was releasing a solo album and that he’s starting a new band. He also teased that there’s “big stuff happening” with The Smashing Pumpkins.
