Van Halen Expand Summer Tour
(hennemusic) Van Halen have expanded their summer tour of North America with the addition of new shows in New York and Los Angeles in support of their latest release, “Tokyo Dome Live In Concert”. The band will now play a third New York-area concert at the Nikon At Jones Beach Theater on Saturday, August 15, as well a second show at the Hollywood Bowl set for Sunday, October 4. Van Halen will launch the North American tour in Seattle on July 5. This Sunday, May 17, Van Halen will perform on the 2015 Billboard Music Awards; the program airs on ABC-TV from 8:00 PM-11:00 PM ET.
Quiet Riot Documentary To Be Screened At Cannes
The Quiet Riot documentary “Quiet Riot: Well Now You’re Here, There’s No Way Back”, will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival on May 14 ahead of its DVD release later this summer. The screening will be taking place at 6 pm at the Hotel Gray d’Albion, 38 Rue Des Serbes, Cannes, 06408, France. We were sent these details about the film: The documentary is an inside look at Frankie Banali’s road to recovery after losing his best friend and Quiet Riot lead singer Kevin DuBrow (Brother of Dr. Terry Dubrow on Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Orange County”) to a drug overdose in 2007 as he forges ahead to conquer his loss, regain his life and put the band back together. Billy Idol Releases ‘Save Me Now’ Video
(hennemusic) Billy Idol has released the music video for the sogn “Save Me Now”, which the second single from his 2014 album, “Kings & Queens Of The Underground.” Following the project’s lead single, “Can’t Break Me Down”, the clip for the track – co-written by Idol, Twin Shadow and Greg Kurstin – was filmed in the California desert by director by Thomas Kirk. “I went for a concept which very much took the lyrics of ‘Save Me Now’ and turned them into a surreal story that I felt was as true to the very visual lyrics as possible,” explains Kirk. “I loved the image of a bruised cop and a priest trapped inside a car.” Idol is currently playing US dates in support of “Kings & Queens Of The Underground”; a summer run across Europe starts June 11 at the Isle Of Wight Festival.
Joe Satriani Previews Track From Forthcoming Album
(hennemusic) Joe Satriani will release his 15th album, “Shockwave Supernova”, on July 24. The guitarist is previewing the album with a sample of the song “On Peregrine Wings.” Co-produced by Satriani and John Cuniberti, the guitarist recorded the project late last year at Skywalker Sound in Lucas Valley, CA, with keyboardist and guitarist Mike Keneally, drummer Marco Minnemann and bassist Bryan Beller. “I couldn’t have asked for a better band to help bring these songs to life,” says Satriani. The guitarist is joined by a second rhythm section for four tracks: drummer Vinnie Colaiuta – who has worked with Frank Zappa, Sting and Paul Simon, among others – and Jane’s Addiction bassist Chris Chaney. Satriani named “Shockwave Supernova” after his alter ago, one that he steps into for live performances.
Joe Bonamassa Leads Lineup For Blues Cruise
(The Blues Joe Bonamassa has confirmed he’ll return to headline the second Keeping The Blues Alive At Sea concert cruise in 2016. Bonamassa, who led the inaugural event earlier this year, will play two shows plus a joint set with longtime collaborator Hart. He’ll be joined by Beth Hart, Blues Traveler, Jarekus Singleton and others on the four-day sailing on the Norwegian Pearl from February 15 to 19. The voyage runs from Miami to Cozumel off Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula. Promoters Sixthman say: “Some of the most celebrated names in blues collide with the rising stars they have influenced in four days of non-stop music.”
Yes Tease Progeny 14-Disc Box Set
(Classic Rock) Yes have premiered a second teaser for their upcoming Progeny 14-disc box set with TeamRock. Progeny: Seven Shows From Seventy-Two is packaged in a cigarette-case style box, with new artwork and refreshed band logo by Dean The clip features a short section from their track Roundabout, while artwork by Roger Dean comes together on screen. It follows a previous teaser, launched earlier this month. The product was planned after Yes discovered seven complete concerts in their archives, taped in 1972 during drummer Alan White’s first tour with Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Chris Squire and Rick Wakeman. The box set contains every track recorded across North America during October and November of that year. The restored audio from three months into the tour is described as “open” and “immediate” and “drops listeners right into the front row.”
Billy Corgan Trying To Balance Smashing Pumpkins With Wrestling
(TeamRock Radio) Billy Corgan is working tirelessly to balance the Smashing Pumpkins’ commitments and his new role with wrestling promotion TNA. The long-time wrestling fan was last month confirmed as senior producer of creative and talent development with TNA Wrestling. Since taking the job, Corgan says he’s been pulling double shifts as he rehearses with the Pumpkins ahead of their joint End Times Tour with Marilyn Manson, which starts on July 7. He tells Rolling Stone: “I’m basically working two full-time jobs, and it’s really hard to balance, because obviously my day job in the Pumpkins is pretty intense. For TNA, at 8am I’m writing emails and at midnight I’m writing emails – I’m filling in every hour I’m not working on music with my wrestling job.”
