Tangled Up in Bob: Dylan’s Star-Studded 30th Anniversary Concert Gets AXS TV Premiere Today

Courtesy of AXS TV/Northstar MediaThe concert special capturing the star-packed 1992 show celebrating the 30th anniversary of Bob Dylan‘s first album premieres on AXS TV today at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The epic three-hour-plus event, which took place October 16, 1992, at New York’s Madison Square Garden, features performances by a jaw-dropping lineup of stars joining Dylan in honor of the folk-rock legend’s incredible career.

Among the many famous artists who participated in the concert were George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Stevie Wonder, John Mellencamp, Lou Reed, Pearl Jam‘s Eddie Vedder and Mike McCready, Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, Willie Nelson and The O’Jays. The historic performance featured the various stars singing a diverse selection of tunes from Dylan’s catalog, from classic hits to obscure gems. Bob himself brought the show to an end with a four-song set that culminated with all-star finale featuring renditions of “My Back Pages” and “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.”

Bob Dylan: The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration is the centerpiece of a special block of programming dubbed “Pioneers of Rock” airing Sunday on AXS TV. The marathon kicks off at 12:30 p.m. ET with the 2012 Beach Boys documentary Doin’ It Again, and also will include concert films featuring Ringo Starr, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Led Zeppelin and Brian Wilson.
